Le Venerdì Mixtape vol. 64 – C48, la MMixtape di Mordant Music

Baron Mordant è l'artista che ha restituito all'Inghilterra quello che il britpop e il punk, durante gli anni Novanta e Settanta, le avevano tolto: Londra smette di essere la terra dei suburban rebel, delle creste verdi con messaggi di finto odio e rivolta sulle giacche di pelle nera, dell'orribile gregge in cardigan e mocassini che si agita felice sotto il sole indie di Brick Lane, e torna a essere un posto spettrale e puzzolente dove nessuno vorrebbe vivere.

Quella di Mordant è un'elettronica grondante di desolazione che prospetta scenari di isolazionismo e alimenta la paranoia fino a trasformarla in un'enorme bolla scura che ci rincorre e cerca di farci fuori. Persino SyMptoMs, capolavoro del 2009 uscito sulla sua etichetta, la Mordant Music—con la quale ha prodotto un altro eroe dell'underground della vecchia Albione, Mr. Shackleton—ha qualcosa di inquietante e spaventoso, nonostante sia un album fatto di canzoni pervase da echi wave che ci mostra un futuro meno grigio.

Quando leggete la sua intro, che per onestà intellettuale abbiamo lasciato in lingua originale, sappiate che il signor Mordant ha una propensione per le doppie M.

The MMixtape is half comprised of tracks by artists that have engaged these ear canals in more recent times and half by records that get played a great deal in the Nesst whatever the weather… transparent hours spent listening to records remains my Le Mesurier… those warped soft clocks who rue a lack of personal time these days just don't get it -  6pm is ohm the mantelpiece and in as rude health as it ever was… does Andy Capper still keep a desk prisoner in London? …njoi the primitive unfurling… love Baron Mordant…

Footnote to the session: I spored the MMix with my foreskin pulled fully back due to a recent bout of phimosis caused, I think, by a Yule period imbibing too much Belgian ale & coffee…I can't recoMMend it…
