1000 tunnel di luci, lanciafiamme, un nightclub dentro un Boeing 747 e sculture di legno che celebrano gli elementi: la 30esima edizione del Burning Man è stata una cornucopia di visioni che lasciano a bocca aperta. Dopo solo un paio di giorni dall’inizio del festival, l’hashtag #burningman2016 aveva superato i 20.000 post su Instagram, oltre un quarto della cifra raggiunta da #burningman2015 in un anno intero. È stata stimata la partecipazione di circa 75.000 persone, che hanno reso quella del 2016 l’edizione del Burning Man più instagrammata della storia.

Ogni anno, però, il Burning Man fatica a gestire questa sempre maggiore popolarità, e si potrebbe sostenere che i costanti aggiornamenti fotografici degli avventori violino i principi di “Zona Teporaneamente Autonoma” su cui è costruita Black Rock City. Ma per il resto di noi, equivalgono a un buffet di surreali prelibatezze visive che in genere abitano solo i nostri sogni e i dipinti di Salvador Dalí. Gotedevi dunque maiali giganti, polpi che sputano fuoco, automobili a forma di squalo, il Tempio annuale di David Best e, ovviamente, la colossale figura umana destinata ad ardere, qui sotto.
