Le illustrazioni surreali di Pierre Schmidt provocano una strana e duplice gioia, quella data dallo sfogliare le foto di altre persone immaginando allo stesso tempo universi fantastici. Noto con il nome d’arte di Dromsjel, l’artista residente a Berlino dà vita a personaggi dai vestiti e dalle palette cromatiche retrò, e li deforma con portali psichedelici e anatomie impossibili. I suoi soggetti sono soprattutto donne, immortalate nelle situazioni più disparate, dall’uscita tra amici alla posa di nudo. Nonostante i colori meravigliosi e i soggetti sorridenti, le sue illustrazioni hanno qualcosa di distopico. La tendenza generale che hanno queste immagini ad andare oltre l’idea di identità umana ricorda troppo un bad trip per essere considerata solo pura stravaganza.
