Music Video Premieres

Mash Up International feat. Herbert Munkhammar & Rikard "Skizz" Bizzi – "Ut och In" (Official Video)

We got Mash Up International to interview Burgercopy who made their video.

So we got the exclusive video premiere of Mash Up International featuring Herbert Munkhammar and Rikard "Skizz" Bizzi with "Ut och In".

Mash Up International are Robert Dinero, Uffie Ice and Money Mats. That said, five Swedish lads with various backgrounds are behind the stuff you're about to hear. While Mash Up International recently got back from a tour with Swedish darling Veronica Maggio, Herbert's currently working with Maskinen, and Skizz is that guy who has a nomination in every Swedish music award there is.

Sounds like they're having pretty fun making music, huh?

Anyway, we got Mash Up International to interview the guy who's made the video. In reality we couldn't agree on who it'd be best to talk to and the main thing about all these guys coming together is the video, right? The video-guy's name is Burgercopy (not his real name) and he seems to have some pretty crazy stuff going on in his head from the look of that insane mashup of visuals and sound that is the video.

Mash Up International: Hi Burgercopy! We grew up listening to your silly songs and mashups on Radio Sweden. Now you're into making fun videos. What happened?

Burgercopy:

I worked at Sveriges Radio P3 and lived more or less in their vinyl archive for five years. I dug up all kinds of music there and did silly mashups in an attempt to sabotage music. After that I felt it was time to do something else, so I began to treat film in the same disrespectful manor as I had done with music. So I set up the production studio Burgercopy.

Do you skate?

I started in 1985 and I just can't quit. I skate at Fryshuset indoor skatepark in the winter, and I enjoy cruising around Stockholm city in the summer. Skateboard and video have always gone hand-in-hand.

So are you a graffiti artist, too?

No, but I draw a lot and make all the scripts on paper.

How old are you, really? Are you older than Robert? He's 34.

I am 37 years old. In 13 years, I'll be 50 – that's amazing!

Are you a feminist?

Yes!

Do you have any signature dish?

Margarita is the best pizza. Why make a fuss about choices and pieces?

You're an extremely handy man, how come? We aren't.
I need a lot of stuff and there's always a zero budget. I can build whatever I want out of junk! Skate ramps, furniture, studios. Do you want to tell us something about how the video was created? Please elaborate.
I created something that mixes real footage and animation, similar to Aha's "Take on Me", but with heavy use of a green-screen. My friend Discokuken choreographed the chorus and then I teamed up with your art director Linys Nyström who created an absolutely fantastic cartoon world. What are your future projects down the pipeline?
Right now I'm working on a 90-minute-long video projection for ambient band Carbon Based Lifeform's gig at Cosmonova in Stockholm next month. The format is Imax Dome 360 degrees – a huge challenge both technically and graphically. After that it's time for a new video with the Swedish duo Far & Son, who I just filmed in Cambodia. Who is your favorite director?
In Sweden, Magnus Gyllenberg and Henrik Möller. International favorites are Michel Gondry and film company The Asylum. What would you do with an unlimited budget?
Take some time off.
