Scandinavia – Hultsfred Festival Report 2

A really great thing about hanging out back stage is that you can interact with people you really want to meet and in some cases, if you can spot them being drunk, get an artist to do an interview. We hooked up with Swedish rapper Ken Ring and Saigon (US) just hanging out having a beer.

Ken Ring, Swedish rap-artist
Saigon (US), rap-artist/actor
VICE: How did you two really meet?
Ken: I picked Saigon up from the airport when he played with Onyx in Alvik, Stockholm, like two months ago. I took care of him, made sure he had a nice time here in Sweden.
Saigon: I had no idea who this dude was when he drove me around Stockholm and then all of a sudden we were out somewhere and everyone came up to him and I thought they wanted to talk to me. He never told me he was a rapper. We just really clicked, we're the same type of person.
VICE: What are your plans in Sweden?
Ken: We're just gonna hang out! We have a couple of gigs these three forthcoming weeks and we're gonna get our drink on and smoke. This tour is not about money, just two friends having a good time. We might go in the studio and do a track, or maybe we won't. It doesn't matter.
VICE: Are you going to see anything here else tonight?
Ken: I'm gonna take Saigon to see Rage Against the Machine but that's about it. We're just going to party. We have other gigs coming up.
VICE: That's right. You're performing with Rick Ross in Stockholm tomorrow. Are you excited?
Saigon: Yeah, it's gonna be great. Rick Ross is a friend of mine.
