Last week, razor-sharp rapper Angel Haze dropped some middle earth shit. As in, it was DEEP. Her take on "Cleaning Out My Closet" was bone harrowing and eye-opening toward her tainted past and it’s perhaps the most uncomfortable thing I’ve heard all year. I mean that in the most complimentary way possible. Now, she’s found an unlikely collaborator in south London troubadour, King Krule, who’s dropped a rework of her breakout track "New York". Alone, they’re both in aesthetically different lanes, but on this mix, Krule manages to meld his jazzed-out melancholia with Haze’s blunted summer banger, creating some haunting graveyard hip-hop.
