A Chat With Harry Koisser From Peace

"I want my hands to look like Brian May’s hands"

We had a chat with Harry from Peace - the stars of this week’s Performance video - to find out why the English indie rock quartet still love Birmingham, how they developed their stagecraft and who their British music idols are.

Noisey: What was the first British album you owned?
Harry: First British record was probably a comp CD by The Who called “Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy”. And it was influential because it was a greatest hits album, or a compilation record, so it was like put it on and you’re picking up the whole band, like a career’s worth of stuff in one album.

Do you ever try to copy their moves on stage?

Whenever I play guitar I always try and look like Brian May. I want my hands to look like Brian May’s hands when he’s playing guitar. His left hand, it’s like the energy of his entire body is going down and into one finger at a time. Then his right hand just seems to touch each string. There’s not like a lot of movement and strumming, he’s just touching the strings and delicately flicking them. Letting it happen, you know. Teasing it out.
