Romney also promised to get the country's economy growing and released a new advert in which he criticised Obama's assertion that "voting is the best revenge" and that utilised keywords like "American", "love" and "country".

National polls show that the race is tied, but Obama has maintained a slim lead in swing states, prompting pundits to place him as the favourite.

Bishop Tawadros was chosen as the new pope of Egypt's Coptic Christians, the largest Christian minority in the Middle East.

SYRIAN REBELS CAPTURED AN OILFIELD IN DEIR EZZOR
It's the first time they've taken control of an oilfield

According to activists, Syrian rebels have captured an oilfield in the eastern province of Deir Ezzor after a siege that lasted several days.

This would mark the first time rebels have taken control of an oilfield – a significant factor in the struggle, as oil was the main source of income for President Bashar al-Assad's government until the European Union imposed sanctions on its export from the country last year.

Syrian opposition groups also gathered in the Qatari capital, Doha, over the weekend for a meeting to determine how to form a more united front against Assad.

THE MEGAUPLOAD BOSS ANNOUNCED HIS NEW WEBSITE WHILE FACING EXTRADITION
Kim Dotcom has a real passion for illegal file-sharing websites

(via)
Kim Dotcom, founder of Megaupload – an illegal file-sharing website that's led to him facing extradition to hear charges in the US brought against him – announced plans for Mega, another potentially illegal file-sharing website.

The new site is expected to use encryption methods that mean only users know what they're uploading, something Dotcom believes will keep the site administrators on the right side of the law.

Kim claims the site has already been getting "millions" of hits and said that many of the visits were from US authorities, tweeting "All FBI agents pressing reload hahaha… We see their IP addresses. LOL!!!"
