Who Is the Most Evil Person in the World?

There’s a lot of evil in the world, and a lot of people who could be blamed for it. Questions of what evil is, and whether one man can be said to be “more evil” than another are complicated, and considering them deeply and fully can lead us to profound realisations about morality. We went out to ask passersby who the most evil person in the world was hoping to spark some serious discussion. Instead, we got a bunch of confused people blathering about the government, and corporations, and a girl who should read an entire article about Trayvon Martin, not just the headlines.

VICE: Who is the most evil person in the world?
Crystal: The government.

The government is not a person.
Well, the top person that owns the government.

The American government?
Yeah the top, top corporate person who dictates how everything should be, besides the president, because Obama’s actually changing stuff around, so I guess the congressmen. What’s the guy that takes the taxes from you?

The IRS?
Uncle Sam. Uncle Sam is the evilest person in the world right now.

Christian: The cop that killed the teenager – Trayvon. He’s the most hated person right now. Police brutality.

Jeff: We’re all equally evil.

What did we all do?
We all fear something.

So fear makes us evil?
Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate and hate leads to the dark side.

Yeah.

Does money make you evil?
Not money itself, but the want of money and what you can do with it.

Wayne: I don’t know. I don’t tend to label people as "evil" or “good”. I think most people are more complex than that, so I can’t give you an easy answer.

If it’s not a good vs. evil dialectic, then who’s fucking shit up the most?
The true believers.

Yeah! We’ve all got an abundance of evil and good in each of us, and it’s the people who believe they’re incapable of wrong that scare the shit out of me.

No, he’s way dead.

Were you going to say Kim Jong-il?
Actually, I didn’t think he was that evil. Mean. But evil? I dunno. I wasn’t gonna say Bin Laden, I wasn’t gonna say the other guy that got beheaded.

Saddam Hussein?
Yes. But I don’t think it’s a single person.

Then what is evil?
I would say a lot of the bigger companies.

Why?
Because it seems like they’re all about a company standpoint. It’s not about putting the customer first or thinking about how the economy has an effect on the consumer, it’s more like saying, “Hey, I’m gonna set this price, and if you don’t like it, so be it. You can go to other places and shop, or you can come here and shop.” And that’s what a lot of them do – things aren’t really competitive, it’s more of a monopoly. But maybe that wasn’t the question you were asking.

So it’s the people setting prices for things?
I guess, but I would say it goes a little higher than the people who set the prices. I think that’s what really is keeping us back as a country is the big businesses. And I’m not saying I’m not for big businesses, I’m just saying they have to be a little more conscious of the everyday man.
