“Dream Machines” is one of the best songs on the album because it makes you feel like jumping in a car, putting your foot to the floor, and watching everything recede to a blur in the rearview mirror. In essence, kinda like “1979” by The Smashing Pumpkins. Kacey says: “It’s either a sad song about dropping out in the ultimate sense, or it’s a very optimistic song about forgetting the world and having a good time. Depends on what kind of day it is, I guess.”
Sidenote: Alice and Kacey play basketball in this video. Although they don’t look it, they’re actually demons on the court.
