Katowice is no paradise in the ordinary sense – it’s a Polish mining city with grey skies, worn-down walls and abandoned buildings. Those who, like me, were born and raised here either love it or hate it. But for the outsiders who pass through and the precious few who come and stay, this city represents something else. They see a place with an odd surreal beauty and character.

As a photographer, I try to capture the rhythms of everyday life in this place from every angle – the mundane as well as the extraordinary.
