Francesco Molinari Hits Hole-In-One, Fans Throw Beer On Course

Francesco Molinari's hole-in-one on 16th hole at Phoenix Open elicits beer-throwing on green.

Dating back to a tradition that began on a Tiger Woods hole-in-one on the same hole in 1997, fans at the 16th hole at the Phoenix Open showered the course with beers after Francesco Molinari hit an ace this afternoon. The Phoenix Open is sort of the anti-Masters, Jim Nantz probably has to take a bath after just saying "the Phoenix Open," and you can see why. It's like a hockey game on the 16th hole and for one weekend golf untucks its shirt. Maybe you remember Padraig Harrington kicking a football into the crowd? That was this hole.

After a week of cranky Super Bowl stories dominated by deflated footballs and silent players, we look to golf to make us feel young again.
