Austin's Sound on Sound Festival Has Been Cancelled

Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Iggy Pop, and Vince Staples were all scheduled to play the Texas festival in mid-November.

Sound on Sound Fest was supposed to be hosting artists like Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Iggy Pop, and Vince Staples in a forest 35 miles outside of Austin, Texas next month. But organizers yesterday cancelled the event, citing unspecified "roadblocks" and offering full refunds to anyone who bought a ticket.

"We are extremely saddened to announce today that Sound On Sound Fest 2017 is being cancelled," a statement on the festival's website reads. "This is one of the hardest decisions we have ever had to make. Due to several recent roadblocks outside of our control and in an effort to do right by our fans, the decision to cancel the event was our only real option."

The statement goes on to say that customers will receive an automatic refund in 5-7 days. It also says that a "majority" of the acts schedule to play the Sound on Sound will still play in the area between November 10 and 12, when the festival was scheduled to run. "For all these rescheduled shows, fans who purchased Sound On Sound tickets will get the first chance to purchase single tickets to any makeup shows this fall," the statement reads.

Their website also states that there are "no current plans to continue the festival" in 2018.
