TV Reporter Claims Michigan Beat Michigan State, Proves TV News is Stupid

He really punted this one.

TV news is horrendous. TV correspondents basically take actual reporters' written work, add "personality" to it, and then it's supposed to be significant, historical record. Narratives are pre-cut, dumbed down, emotionalized and thrown through a camera with a smile. Well, facts miiiight play a factor into reporting, as a west Michigan reporter found out after jumping the gun on the Michigan-Michigan State game.

Alright, fine. Maybe it was a hard game to call, as it came down to the last second—I even had to revise my post about the game after chalking something up. But at least I revised it. Apparently, WZZM reporter Jamal Spencer didn't have that luxury, as he claimed that "the Paul Bunyan trophy is back in Ann Arbor for the first time since 2012." There was a bit of good team work, as his fellow correspondent tries to take the hit for the misinformation, but the whole jist was off-kilter from the get-go.

In the long run, it's wishful thinking from Spencer. He really punted this one.
