What with the ridiculous amount of attention paid lately to Southern rap, it's about time Playa Fly gets some love. I mean, Lil' Flip is OK, but J-Kwon is a one-hit-wonder. And do you really know anything about Memphis crunksters Three 6 Mafia? Name three of their songs besides "Sippin' On Some Syrup" right now. Go!
Playa is from Memphis, too, but he's from the south side of town. Triple 6 is from the north. For those of you who are too "scurred" to venture into the wilds of M-town's urban confines, know this: The north has a shoot-you-in-the-fucking-face vibe, but the south is all about stoned smiles and cooking out. Tell me honestly, white kid, where would you rather be?

Playa Fly: It's just that they come from so many different little areas there. You know in a movie, when you see some African tribe hooting and hollering all gettin' along? I guess so, but if I said ‘hooting and hollering," I'd get called racist.
Well in the north, there's no harmony. In the south, everybody's got their shoes kicked off. But you used to be down with Triple 6, right?
Yeah, but we parted ways. I made a dis track called "Triple Bitch Mafia," but that was just in response to a dis they made on me. I don't like to focus on the negative, though. OK, we don't have to. Beefs are boring anyway. Speaking of which, you like to barbeque. Got any tips?
My favorite thing is to take a turkey leg, get some butter or margarine on there, then cut up some peppers and put it all on some foil on the grill. Then you just let it sit there forever. Forever?
