Sanding a Massive Mechanical Penis with André Saraiva

André Saraiva is a renowned name in all things related to partying and nightlife. His club Le Baron de Paris is the favorite stomping ground for the city’s creatives and their friends. It is like a French version of Studio 54, but without the disco music. And instead of being housed in an old opera house in NYC, Le Baron is in a whorehouse in the 8th district of Paris.

A couple of years ago, New York started buzzing that André would open a Le Baron in NYC. But it wasn’t until Valentine’s Day this year that it actually happened, in the Chinatown arrondissement. Sometime before this, André also opened up Le Bain with André Balazs. Le Bain is the alternative club to the Boom Boom Room at the Standard Hotel… Basically, André is a really busy guy. So when we got a call that he was in the Gowanus area of Brooklyn prepping his installation for the Hole Gallery, we had to go see what he was up to. Plus, it was our first opportunity to see him in daylight.

André greeted us at the door of the gallery. As always, he was very charming and put together in his signature black leather jacket, smoking a cigarette. “Come in, let me show you guys” he said and then he asked the man in a body suit with the “I LOVE COCK” signage on his back to move aside. André promptly grabbed a rotary power tool that was being passed around and he started going at it—this massive penis the size of a mechanical bull… He didn’t need a jumpsuit, obviously. He looked great as is, casually sanding an enormous dick.
