Joe Johnson Destroyed a Man and Won a Game Last Night

Joe Johnson had himself a good night.

You can't be blamed for missing the Nets and the Nuggets slog through an early February game in Brooklyn but, as it turns out, there were plenty of highlights. Oddly enough, most featured Joe Johnson, of all people. The 34-year-old guard has been with Brooklyn since 2012 and it's never really worked out for either party: the Nets have stunk, and after he was highly sought-after free agent, Johnson has faded into obscurity. But don't tell that to poor Jusuf Nurkić, Denver's 21-year-old Bosnian big man, because Johnson put him in a blender ankle's first and cranked it up to the highest setting. Johnson buried the shot, just before the buzzer sounded to end the third quarter. Please enjoy the Nets bench's reaction.

Then, with his team trailing 104-102 and under two seconds to play, Johnson hit a legit buzzer beater to give the Nets a stunning 105-102 win. Inbounding from the sideline in front of the Denver bench with 1.3 seconds left, Johnson curled around and caught the pass at the top of the arc, casually threw up a shot off one foot, and banked it in. Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov loved it as much as the bench loved the dissolution of Nurkić's ankles.
