Watch Grizzly Bear Perform "Mourning Sound" on 'Colbert'

Their new album, 'Painted Ruins,' came out at midnight.

Grizzly Bear were the musical guests on last night's Late Show with Stephen Colbert, celebrating the release of their fifth album, Painted Ruins, with a perormance of "Mourning Sound." Colbert introduced the band by recalling the time that he sat with them in a rowboat for The Colbert Report back in 2012. (It was "a warship in the Hudson," according to Colbert).

The awkward electrics sit nicely in the Ed Sullivan Theatre—this was always an oddly-aligned track, with the drums an eighth of a beat behind Ed Droste's vocals. Watch the dimly-lit performance at the top of the page.
