Earlier this week, Swiss police arrested six executives of FIFA, soccer's international governing organization, during FIFA's annual meeting in Zurich. The arrests were followed by an indictment from the US Justice Department charging 14 defendants—mostly FIFA top brass—with money laundering conspiracies, racketeering, bribery, and a slew of other thuggish offenses, in a "24-year scheme" to get rich with kickbacks and fraud.

Last night on the Daily Show, soon-to-be-retired host Jon Stewart lashed out at the rampant corruption in the global soccer organization, and why it took investigators almost a quarter century (or, as he put it, "a Jennifer Lawrence ago") to break it up.

"Twenty-four years? What the fuck?" Stewart said. "FIFA is so bad they got arrested by the Swiss… a country whose official policy on Nazi gold was 'We'll allow it.'"
