These photos were taken at the annual pow wow in Bishop, California, where Native Americans come together from across the US and Canada for a little friendly competition in traditional dancing, singing and drumming. Their clothing and regalia are all handmade, either by themselves or by family members as gifts. Their wardrobes are also typically handed down within their families – one elder I met was wearing and dancing in an outfit that was at least 85 years old.
