Being a good samaritan is hard. Sometimes helping out your fellow man is met with gratitude and respect, and other times it's met with accusations of kidnapping, reckless endangerment, and disorderly conduct.

The latter happened to David Pope earlier this week, when he mistook a super not-homeless man pushing a cart of cans and bottles as homeless, kidnapped him, and dragged him back to his house for dinner, the Danbury News Times reports.

To make matters worse, Pope's Staffordshire terrier bit the guy's leg hard enough to break the skin.

The 77-year-old victim choked down Pope's food until he found an opening for escape, at which point he limped home as fast as his bleeding leg could carry him. Then he called the police.

It's unclear what meal Pope prepared, but the victim later explained to police that he ate it because he "was afraid for his life and afraid the dog would bite him again," according to theDanbury News Times.

When officers confronted Pope, he was visibly intoxicated and claimed he thought the man was homeless and was simply offering him food.

Good intentions or no, Pope was charged with second-degree kidnapping, second-degree reckless endangerment, interfering with an officer, and disorderly conduct. He'll make an appearance in court next Thursday after being held on a $500 bond.
