Death Rainbows

Lots of hippie-types and "doctors" like to wax on about how when you die your brain releases a bunch of dimethyltryptamine that makes you trip balls and see a smorgasbord of colors and shapes and crap.

Lots of hippie-types and "doctors" like to wax on about how when you die your brain releases a bunch of dimethyltryptamine that makes you trip balls and see a smorgasbord of colors and shapes and crap. That makes death sound pretty OK, so we were excited to find out there's a website devoted to images that make you feel like you're dying.

It's made by a fellow who calls himself Wyatt W. He says he only updates it about three times a year, probably because it's super hard to find good images that look like something you'd see on your deathbed. The site is a mix of found images left as-is, and photos that Wyatt has altered to better fit the aesthetic of the other pictures on the page.

There are ten photos on each page, all of which are related, and the first and last connect in some way to the previous or next page, respectively. Here's what Wyatt had to say about it:

"Conceptually, I was thinking about how it's said that when the spirit departs the body, spectral colors refract inside the skull and countless images flash before one's eyes: these are the "death rainbows" the title refers to, a reel of images that represent one's universal life force.  And in this sense the project is Reichian… I truly think of the work as a collage of Orgone imagery!"

Fuckin' triply, right? Here's a few pictures from his site:

To get the whole experience go to deathrainbows.tumblr and spend at least until tomorrow pampering your eyeballs with the images.
