GO SEE OUT OF THE BLUE ON SUNDAY

One of our favorite movies of, like, ever, is screening on Sunday night at Lincoln Center's Walter Reade Theater. Out of the Blue (directed by Dennis Hopper. released in 1980) is perhaps the ultimate youth in revolt film. It stars the extra, extra special Linda Manz (Days of Heaven, Gummo) as CeBe Barnes, the daughter of a just-released-from-prison miscreant played by Hopper himself. She takes a dark trip through badness, neglect, crossed boundaries and punk rock, and the whole thing ends, literally, explosively. It's got a Neil Young soundtrack and it's one of those secret handshake movies that, once you see it, you will feel the need to be a missionary regarding its greatness to everybody you know.

This is a new 35mm print that's being screened, so expect the sort of clarity and beauty that movies this obscure are rarely seen in nowadays.
