In November 2009 and November 2010 I visited Mandarin Green Plastics Co. to photograph their artificial flower factory in Huidong, China. This family-owned company, like many Chinese businesses, exports their products to Western markets. So many of the goods we purchase today are manufactured in China, but we rarely give thought to how these products are made and the individuals who are responsible. The story of this factory and its people is very positive, which is a departure from the largely negative associations the West holds of Chinese producers. The facility is clean and the workers are treated well. The Miao family operates their business with integrity and compassion. These images are a personal and quiet observation of daily life at this factory.
