Donald Trump will sit down with Mitt Romney—who once called the president-elect a "phony" and a "fraud"—to chat about the possibility of the former Massachusetts governor becoming secretary of state, NBC reports.

Romney, who ran unsuccessfully against Barack Obama in 2012, was one of Trump's most outspoken GOP Establishment critics, and refused to endorse Trump throughout the course of his campaign.

Romney accused Trump of ushering in "trickle-down racism" during an interview with Wolf Blitzer last summer and once said that Trump's hesitance to release his tax returns probably meant there was a "bombshell" Trump didn't want the public to see. Trump responded by calling him "pathetic" and said he choked like a dog during his presidential bid.

Following Trump's win last week, Romney called to congratulate the president-elect and apparently patched things up. Trump later tweeted the phoner was "very nice."
