Watch Former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger Hit His Younger Self in the Head with a Pole in the New 'Terminator' Trailer

Robots are bad, humans are good. That's all you need to know.

VICE spent a long time trying to dissect the first trailer for upcoming sci-fi mindfuck Terminator: Genisys last December. The movie is kind of a reboot—but not really, since it exists in the same universe as the original movies—though it maybe takes place in an alternate timeline where the events of the first Terminator didn't happen? It makes about as much sense as the spelling of the title, but that doesn't really matter. None of the movies or Terminator spinoff TV shows released after Terminator 2: Judgement Day, made any logical sense at all. So what? Robots are bad, humans are good, Arnold Schwarzenegger is a robot who is sometimes good and sometimes bad. That's all you need to know.

Paramount Pictures just released a new trailer for Terminator: Genisys, and it gives us our first look at actor JK Simmons bringing his ubiquitous role as "curmudgeonly adult male in stressful situation" to the Terminator canon. We also get to see a graying Schwarzenegger barreling through the air, crashing into a flying helicopter, and later going head-to-head against a CGI version of himself circa 1984. Approach it like a zen koan—it may not make sense, but therein lies the beauty.
