If you live in Stockholm and are into house and techno, you can’t have missed the mega-party Yard that Trägården/Under Bron are hosting at Kvarnholmen this weekend. With DJs such as Jeff Mills, Robert hood, Legowelt and Bella Sarris, it shows how dedicated the organisers are to make Yard the best party this year. The location is set at an old bus yard, so it looks like the perfekt place to make some last-minute epic summer memories.I got the chance to exchange some quick questions with Australia'sBella Sarris, who is one of my new favorite DJs. She always makes my head bop to her sick mixes – she's the new queen of groove.Noisey: Okay. Some basic questions to begin with: Who are you? How long have you been DJing and how did you get into it?Bella Sarris:I'm Bella. I went to Ibiza for the first time when I was 18 and I've been playing ever since. Ibiza is not the only reason why I DJ, I have been partying and enjoying music since I was very young, but it made me realise I wanted to make people feel how I did on the dance floor at space the first time.You describe your style as “deep tech” – for people who don’t know what that is – can you explain what it is? How is that different from say, deep house?I really try to avoid describing my style at all, I just play music that I would dance to, and that changes all the time. It's not easy to put it in words, but yes i guess deep is a good word. But not always, it really depends on my mood and the time and place.What are your expectations ahead of Yard? What’s your vibe?
I feel like I'm going into this blind. I have absolutely no idea what to expect, which is really nice actually. It makes me even more excited. I've never been to Stockholm before, it's always been at the top of my list but I don't really know anything about the country. All I know is I love the people, well the ones i know anyway. I've recently made some new Swedish friends and they are all mega cool, so I have a good feeling about this.. I've been in love with your Hooked Podcast 001 mix all summer, will I get the same feeling from your set at Yard this weekend?
You just made me realise how lazy I've been putting out podcasts in the last few months, because thats quite an old one [laughs]. But thank you, I really have no idea how I'm going to play today so hopefully I will pull something cool out of the bag. Let's see later. Also, I think it's time for another podcast, don't you..? Always. Am I going to see you dance at Yard? If so, where will I find you?
I'm always dancing. I guess I will start at my stage and then see where my feet and the tequila takes me. And finally, can you please become a resident DJ in Stockholm? (You choose the club).
