Neil Armstrong, the first man who ever walked on the moon, died at the age of 82 this weekend. The most famous space traveller of all time had heart surgery but there were complications and ultimately they cost him his life. Armstrong was commander of the Apollo 11 mission and became the first person to bounce across the moon's surface on the 20th of July, 1969. His family described him as "a reluctant American hero who always believed he was just doing his job".

Seventeen bodies have been found in Afghanistan

Taliban insurgents killed 17 people in Helmand Province, apparently for going to a party. The bodies of 15 men and two women were found by the side of the road on Monday morning – some had had their throats cut. Local officials said the men had gathered to listen to music and watch the women dance and this pissed off the Taliban because they're not into men and women socialising together. Wildlife
POLICE SPENT A WHOLE  DAY LOOKING FOR A LION IN ESSEX
It probably doesn't exist but it would be funny if it did

(via)
Police spent 24 hours searching for a lion after a group of residents claimed to have seen the beast near a place called St Osyth in Essex. They called off the search after roping in zoologists and helicopters with thermal imaging technology. "We believe what was seen on Sunday evening was either a large domestic cat or a wildcat," Essex police said on Monday afternoon. Police said they had to take the initial claims seriously because it was their job to protect the public. "The moment I saw it, straight away I said, 'That looks like a lioness,'" said 58-year-old Sue Wright, who took a "photograph" of "the lion" on Sunday evening. Parties
