Nasir Mazhar Makes Tracksuits For Space Cadets

Complete with bucket helmets and breathing masks.

Yesterday was the first day of London Collections: Men, or LCM as all of your friends will have been referring to it on Twitter. People like to call it "Men's Fashion Week", but it's actually only three days of shows and presentations, which is kind of unfair and misleading when you were banking on telling your editor you wouldn't be able to make it into the office at all that week because your show schedule was just impossible. But who would do that? The line-up of designers for the opening day was pretty impressive with offerings from Meadham Kirchhoff, Astrid Andersen, and king of streetwear: Nasir Mazhar. If you've ever read the VICE fashion week coverage (which you better have; we don't spend hours queuing up outside un-airconditioned rooms for nothing, guys) you'll probably know just how important Nasir is not only to us but to British fashion in general. If you don't, this should help you to understand.

Annons

Think of it like a harmless test, except this is fashion we're talking about, so if you fail, you're OUT BITCH. What do you see? Do you see a guy with a bucket wearing a cap on top of his head? Or do you see stupidly cool sportswear for a slumlord astronaut to wear while he's blowing the heads off aliens on some shitty ghetto planet a billion miles away. And wait, isn't that a Stormtrooper up there? Star Wars is officially not nerdy anymore guys. Well, not for 3 hours yesterday afternoon it wasnt, anyway.

Astrid Andersen

More freaky tracksuits from AA, who emblazoned her name down the side of her models' legs, almost certainly because Juicy Couture and Kappa did it. Using accents of heavy fur and velour in a rich palette of bold blues and metallics, Andersen showed all-over print seperates along with her trademark dissected luxe sportswear. Silhouettes were kept slinky and casual, which is coincidentally just how I like male models to behave when they come near me. Highlights were the cuddlesome purple fur jacket (new favourite word of all time?), silky turqoise sweatshirt and pants, and a dark denim onesie that made the model look like the most adorable mechanic ever. Thankyou Astrid!

Catch up on last fashion week.
