When the news broke that Earl Sweatshirt was back from Samoa I was one part excited as fuck and one part skeptical. EARL is one of my favourite hip-hop records of the past couple years, yet, I was worried that any kind of follow up would come rush released and pre-packaged with a buttload of hype and expectation. Thankfully, the dude has clearly been taking his sweet time with it. Whilst a whole bunch of other Web 2.0 rappers would have dropped a slew of new material by now, we’ve only heard the one track from Earl. Which is a good thing though BTW, y'know keeping the hype intact and not farting out every single sloppy MP3.Anyway, last night he dropped some dark tinged visuals for homecoming track “Chum”. Opting for monochromatic cinematography over the lo-fi 240P aesthetics of old, he’s flipped up his style, yet managed to retain an air of mystery. Earl, Y U SO MYSTERIOUS?
