Gola Know the Importance of an Online Crush

Their 'Born in Britain' project is a celebration of the most eligible bachelors in the country.

Not to give away too much, but I’m about to directly quote Usher. It’s important that I do, because as much as you might want to re-phrase this, it’s a fact: “there’s always that one person”. Except, I’m not talking about your “boo”. I’m talking about your online obsession. Don’t be shy – I know you have one. Or several. Big deal, you might not have met in real life but they’ve got better Facebook profile pictures, more Twitter followers and their tumblr theme is totally personalised and way more tech than yours. It’s not that you’re jealous, you’re more sort of, impressed. Or maybe you want their face to bump with your face – it’s not quite clear at this point.

There’s a downside to crushing on strangers though: finding them. After a while it’s easy to get bored of using the same old social media formats to spy on the babes you secretly want to be/date/generally just feel close to. There are only so many times you can trawl through 10 pages of search results without feeling just a bit disheartened. Why isn’t there a place where someone has consolidated all the teen prodigies and future crushes onto one, easy to use page?

Stop scrolling. No, seriously, stop scrolling. It exists. Legendary British sportswear brand Gola made it their mission this year to locate 30 of the country’s most talented and super-savvy students to represent the brand nationwide, and here it is. As well as serving as a database of babes, it’s also a selection of people Gola trust with creative freedom over the promotion of their brand. So not only are the student ambassadors totally lust-worthy, they’re sort of powerful beyond comprehension too. Hot.

As well as sourcing the best brand ambassadors in the country, Gola's Born in Britain project endeavours to shine a spotlight on some of the undiscovered creative talent lurking amongst us. Apols if you were hoping to finally get some recognition for your Photo Booth selfie skills, Gola have done their research, and they’re nurturing a select group of young British artists. David Sinnott is a young sculptor who uses found materials (including Gola trainers) to create amazing intricate pieces of art. And then there’s David Gibb and Elly Lucas, who have taken kitschy folk nostalgia to a whole other level. Watch out for the future announcements, and lust away, guys. Just please don’t be too creepy.
