Distortion Is a Paradise – Part One

Come and meet its angels.

On the first weekend in June – between the 4th and 8th of June to be exact – public drinking was taken beyond all conceivable expectations in Copenhagen as Distortion happened. It's one of Europe’s largest street festivals, attracting anywhere from 50,000 to 100,000 people per day. Distortion is a mostly free mobile party that barrels through different neighbourhoods over five days at a rate of a thousand beers per minute. Although the typical festival usually labels itself as a celebration of music, Distortion designates itself to be a "celebration of street life and modern party culture". Evidently, this is what party culture looks like in Copenhagen.
