The House of Peroni Is Bringing Italian Culture to London

The House of Peroni is going to feature the best in contemporary Italian culture.

As cultured and aesthetically-informed as you think you might be, let's face it – it's hard to hold a candle to the Italians. Where they had ravioli and Michelangelo, we had pasties and colonialism – their Fellinis are our Curtises, their Galileos our Joey Bartons.

So where better to get an update on how contemporary Italian culture is going than from an institution of Italian taste, Peroni Nastro Azzurro? Their new project, The House of Peroni, showcases the new wave of talent defining Italian culture. And by culture, they mean basically everything you already enjoy; design, art, fashion, photography, film, music, food and drink.

Annons

Their website is already up and running, boasting a bunch of content about all those things I just listed, and The House of Peroni will be taking up residence in London in July so you can go along to see, touch and taste everything you've been staring at on your computer screen. Which is kind of them, because trying to eat from a screen only ever ends in a bleeding tongue and prolonged embarrassment.

Getting into specifics, on the 3rd and 4th of July, product designer Giovanni Alessi Anghini will be talking about the inspiration behind some of his iconic creations; on the 5th, fashion designers Fyodor Golan will be talking about design and hosting a 3D embroidery class; on the 6th, architect Andrea Morgante will be giving a tour around London, looking at the Italian influence on the capital's skyline; and, on the 11th, critically acclaimed design duo Formafantasma will be taking part in an "audeince with…" event.

There's also going to be food on offer created by Michelin-starred Italian chefs the Costardi brothers, and drinks distilled from Peroni Nastro Azzurro by master mixologist Gerry Calabrese. Plus the whole thing will be soundtracked by DJ Alessio Natalizia, one half of electronic duo Walls.

The House is open to the public from the 3rd of July and free to enter. Tickets for all the events and master classes start at £15 and are available here. If you're over 18, for everything else you might want to know, visit www.thehouseofperoni.com.
