Please Listen to My Mix CD for Fall 2011

Dear Strangers,

They say that your memory is shaped like a cone and that the point is the stuff that's furthest in the past. If that's true, mine is like an ice cream cone with the bottom bit off, allowing all my ice creamy memories to melt out the bottom and ruin the upholstery of my parent's car. I combat my inability to sort the events of my recent past by documenting them with drawings, photos, and mix CDs. Every creative act is a memorial for the moment that just passed.

A lot has happened in my life since I posted my "Best Photos of Summer." I took photos of Honor Titus and Liz Lee for Metropolis Vintage. I also made a giant Halloween window display for that store. I went to Dragon Con, SPX, and New York Comic Con. I went to the VICE.com Launch Party. My mom had a big deal art show in New York. I hung out with Nathan from Wavves. I also did album art for Wavves' new record, Life Sux. I went to ASAP Rocky's record release party. I was in an art show full of painted coffin-shaped skateboards. I got back together with and broke up with the same girl. I painted my sister's face onto a scooter. I played Glenn O'Brien in a Bosco Delrey music video that's an homage to the old public access show, "TV Party." And I posted my 1000th photo of a girl on my blog, Nick Gazin's Photos of Girls. These days I'm mostly dealing with a severe case of what doctors are referring to as "winter blues." I sleep 18 hours a day and watch episodes of Star Trek: TNG. VICE is sending me to a place in San Diego to get some rest and sort shit out.

I also made this mix CD. Imagine me singing every song because each one was chosen to express my feelings and the sequence is supposed to correlate to the events of the past four months. Please listen to the mix CD and think about how I am an under-appreciated genius. Don't be ashamed if you're moved to tears by the things you feel. Let the tears fall freely like my melted ice cream feelings, melting out of the bottom of my memory cone.
