Celebrate 1080p's Second Birthday by Downloading the Entire Back Catalogue for Free

Get ready for the best birthday present since your grandmother got you that pencil case when you were 10.

Birthdays are normally shit. Unless you're the kind of attention seeking prick who stretches out the celebration of their own birth over an entire week, taking in cocktails, meals out, nights in, bowling, trips to the cinema, line-dancing, and all that jazz, birthdays usually equate to disappointment at best and life-shattering ennui at worst.

Not everyone's a total curmudgeon though. Rather than wallowing in bed all day wrapped in a stultifying blanket of despair and self-reproach, maybe nipping out for a desultory, self-pitying pint at some point, Vancouver record label 1080p have decided to celebrate their birthday — the imprint's second — by giving away their entire back catalogue for free via Bandcamp.

Run out of Canada by Kiwi expat Richard Macfarlane, the cassette and digital only label has spent it's first two years of life flirting with the boundaries between abstraction and danceability, finding itself at home with lo-fi experimentation and glossily rich kosmiche explorations. They've pretty much never put a foot wrong, and this party bag is a total goldmine for anyone with the remotest interest in deep-diving dance music that doesn't stick rigidly to the dull confines of the dancefloor consensus.

Dive in blind, curate your own selection, grab anything and everything. You might come back with warped avant-R&B, lysergic acid house, foam-splattered throwback 90s jams, spit-sodden Houston rap, or stratospheric deep cuts. It's all good. Happy birthday, 1080p, this pint's on us.
