Watch the Smash Mouth Guy Go Nuts When Someone Throws Bread at Him Onstage

Even his insults seem stuck in the late 90s.

Smash Mouth's singer Steve Harwell has had a career as long and storied as his pencil-thin Abe Lincoln beard. He penned the seminal bar mitzvah jam "All Star,"ate two dozen eggs for charity, and even cameoed in the film Rat Race. He is a man deserved of respect and adoration—but some audience members at his show last night at a food festival in Colorado opted instead to pummel the triple platinum recording artist with bread. Harwell was not amused, and gave the anonymous bread tosser a stern talking to about courtesy as his band played on behind him.

Here's the tirade in its entirety before Harwell shakes off the bread crumbs and the band launches into a version of "All Star" with his bassist covering the vocals.

"You throw one more piece of shit on fucking stage. I'm gonna come find your ass. I'm gonna beat your ass whoever the fuck you are out there. OK? You want to be a badass. Come up here, come on. Walk your bad ass up here, come on. Come on stage. Come on stage, badass. Come on.

"Come on stage! You bring your ass on stage, whoever's throwing shit at me. I will tell you right now—I will beat the fuck out of you. OK. You're a pussy punk bitch. OK?

"You're ruining the show for thousands of people right now because I'm gonna walk off stage, and guess what? You're paying for it, motherfucker, OK. Come on! Somebody throw one more thing at me right now, and I'm going to find you, asshole. Somebody throw something at me.

"If you're a man, you throw something at me. If you're man enough to throw something at me right now. I'm going to walk up to you, I'm going to beat the fucking shit out of you, you little pussy bitches."

The whole thing is reminiscent of another famous scene in rock 'n' roll history, when Pavement was run off the stage at Lollapalooza to a hail of mud and rocks. Time has solidified Pavement's status as untouchable royalty and the rock throwers as shitty mid-90s losers. We can only wish the same fate on Harwell and his bread-chucking nemesis.
