VICE Sports World News Roundup

Our daily morning roundup of the sports news from around the world.

Good morning, America. Welcome to the worldwide morning news roundup.

The United States has a new springing star. She's sixteen, her name is Candace Hill, and she just broke the 100-meter youth World Record with a time of 10.98 seconds. "[She] has run a time that would have seen her finish seventh in the women's 100m at the 2012 Olympics," reports the BBC. Not bad.

After being red carded last week in Brazil's Copa America match against Colombia, Brazilian star Neymar was suspended for four games, effectively ending his tournament. Rather than appealing the decision, the Brazilian federation sent Neymar home on "forced leave." This comes amid allegations he called the referee a "son of a bitch" during the Colombia match. Maybe it's best he cooled off for a while.

A guy who knows a thing or two about letting things go to his head, Diego Maradona, has reportedly declared his candidacy for the FIFA presidency. If there's one word that comes to mind when I hear "Diego Maradona" it's "reform." Just kidding! It's actually "cocaine."

A hard tackle during a rugby match in Australia resulted in the death of a player over the weekend. James Ackerman was 25 years old. He had two children.

In the tournament's biggest upset so far, Australia knocked out Brazil 1-0 yesterday at the Women's World Cup. France comfortably beat South Korea 3-0.

The transfer season is fast approaching for soccer leagues across Europe. This big rumors this morning are as follows:

Andrea Pirlo to NYCFC? He was at a Yankees game over the weekend. Draw your own conclusions.

Will Real Madrid and Manchester United swap David De Gea for Sergio Ramos? When I first heard this one I was tempted to laugh, but Spain's AS newspaper is reporting that Ramos is open to the move and ready to leave. And nobody is really disputing that De Gea is keen to go the other direction.

It looks like Jackson Martinez, the much coveted Colombian forward, will be moving from Porto to Atletico Madrid next season.
