We’ve become well acquainted with Curses’ tendency to write tunes that could accompany your late-night walk home through dark alleys and shroudy chicanes, but just as you got comfortable with him making you uncomfortable, he’s gone and released “Bark in the Dark,” a tune that it nothing but good times.
“I departed the dark dark dark and ventured into a more summer vibe,” Curses mysteriously whispered to THUMP, “Hence the title, ‘Bark in the Dark.’ Make a sound in the shadows and step into the light just in time for summer.”

The tune is the lead track off of Curses’ first EP for NYC label Let’s Play House. It’s the kind of ditty we play on repeat at THUMP to make our interns work faster. And it’s working!
We ran into Curses in a dark alley and suggested he pick which of his alter-egos would win in a battle royale, Curses or Drop the Lime. He responded, “Eternal immortal self combustion. Chemical and spiritual reactions of alchemic confusion would occur and both would spawn a dangerous and mysterious cloud of mystery.” To be fair, we have no idea what that means.
Just as our brief encounter was beginning, Curses tipped his sizable hat and strode away, but not before we could ask him what he was hiding under that fine work of millinery. “Drop the Lime,” he said. And with a whoosh, he was gone into the shadows.
