Oliver Heldens and Shaun Frank’s Music Video Shoot was Full of Koala Suits and Water-Soaked Women

While making zany visuals for their track "Shades of Grey," a Toronto block party erupted.

Earlier this month, Oliver Heldens and Toronto's Shaun Frank cornered off a sliver of Toronto to shoot the new music video for their track "Shades of Grey." After meeting at VELD in Toronto in 2014, Frank and Heldens quickly shot into the studio to make their first collaboration. "This is the first track I'm releasing as a vocal version instead of having instrumentals out first," Heldens tells THUMP. "I'm super proud of this record."

The two decided to shoot the video for "Shades of Grey" in Toronto. Why? Well, Frank is born, raised, and currently residing here while Heldens is one of Toronto's biggest fans. "I think Toronto is a really nice city. The people are super friendly, there are great bars, and great food everywhere," says Heldens. Part of the location for the video is at Shaun Frank's house in the city. "Shaun's place is amazing. His studio is next door to his house and there were all these musicians living and working there."

"We had so much fun making this video, I can't wait for it to be released. I hope you enjoy some behind the scene shots!"

Oliver Heldens: Without spoiling too much of the storyline, the redline of the video is that Shaun is constantly the loser and the pretty girls don't pay any attention to him. Nothing works, even when he brings his super cool dog around.

That's me in my onesie koala suit with Delaney Jane on my back. That day, it was so hot in Toronto, so you can only imagine how sweaty I was in that suit.

It's such a hard knock life shooting music videos. Even while throwing garden parties with a BBQ and the best ribs in Toronto.

Explaining to Shaun that wearing a custom gecko suit is really quite the fulfilling experience.

Camera ready, and action! This shot will likely be one of the opening scenes in the video.

Enjoying my role as a temporary actor.

Shaun lives in a really cool, old antique looking house. The house used to belong to a family for years and now their name is being used for the street name, as well. I'm not sure if the piano was from back then too, but it's always nice to play some melodies on an old piano.

This dog makes me laugh! What a gangster!

Since it was so warm the day of the shoot, they had me shoot water guns at the girls. Here I am, practicing my aim.

If you hadn't seen this photo in combination with all of the others, you'd probably have a lot of questions. A water gun fight in a koala onesie—weird combination.

The "Shades of Grey" music video is due out on Monday, June 22.
