The Gun Markets of Pakistan

VICE visits the arms markets of Darra, Pakistan, where the area's holy warriors come to stock up on guns handmade by men who live in caves.

In 2006, VICE co-founder Suroosh Alvi was one of a handful of journalists who was able to get into the massive guns market in Pakistan’s tribal areas—home base for the Taliban since the US invasion of Afghanistan in 2001. When he returned to Pakistan a year later he found the entire country was a “powder keg ready to explode.”
