Listen to JEFF the Brotherhood's New Track, "Melting Place"

The Nashville twosome returns to their roots with a muddy trudge through chunky palm-muted power chords and wailing riffs that cut clear through the feedback.

I've never stolen away to the back room of a Tennessee dive bar after one too many Bud/well whiskey shot combos to catch a real Southern garage band play their tar-laden lungs out in front of a smattering of mostly-ambivalent bikers and gang-bangers. It's one of my biggest regrets in life, but hey, I'm still young. But in the face of all the thousands of scuzzy bands that get stamped with the "garage rock" label for no other reason than to make some music writer's job easier, there's only one JEFF the Brotherhood.

On their newest cut, "Melting Place," the Nashville twosome returns to their roots with a muddy trudge through chunky palm-muted power chords and wailing riffs that cut clear through the feedback. The track comes off Garage Swim, a free compilation brought together by Adult Swim and Dr Pepper featuring never-before-heard releases from JEFF the Brotherhood (obviously), Bass Drum of Death, Thee Oh Sees, King Tuff, Black Lips, and more.

Listen to "Melting Place" below, and look out for Garage Swim, available May 6 through July 14 via Williams Street Records.
