Mogwai Cancels Five US Dates Over Visa Delays

Damn Border Patrol, man—always screwing up something. This time the boys in green have delayed processing visas for staid Scottish post-rockers Mogwai. The slow up forces Mogwai to move their first five US dates to October. Fans in DC, Philly, NYC, and Boston be apprised: you’ll be donning parkas by the time Mogwai’s finally back. When they finally do arrive in North America, Mogwai will kick their tour off in Canada with shows in Montreal and Toronto. Mogwait’s hardly the first band to see their itinerary scuttled by the Border Patrol: Young Legionnaire, Frankie & The Heartstrings, The Raveonettes, and Those Dancing Days all saw SXSW shows cancelled or bounced by visa delays. Of course, the street runs both ways: the UK recently denied Lil Wayne’s visa application, forcing Lil Tunechi to cancel all his European dates. Of course, Lil Wayne’s 8-month stint in Rikers makes him a slightly less appealing visa candidate than some of his contemporaries.
