Melbourne Producer Chiefs Summons Honest Darkness with "Demon"

This team-up with Beayz brings internal conflict to the club.

When Chiefs isn't putting together colossal all Drake mixtapes and remixes for Ta-Ku, Crooked Colours or CRNKN. He's riding the wave of "sonically futuristic pastiche from the likes of Kanye West, James Blake and Girl Unit" (i-D music ones to watch). The Melbourne-based producer has just released his most honest single to date, finding his voice as a songwriter as easy as he's able to turn a dancefloor into a heaving, sweaty mess at 3AM.

Chiefs (aka Sione Sisifa) calls "Demon" "the darkest release to date. It depicts the basic idea of internal conflict that we battle with inside ourselves or worse against others. We see religiously motivated messages constantly plastered on our media feeds but in most cases it's really the power hungry political fuck heads who kill it for us all."

This is the first true attempt at songwriting for Chiefs, dominating with a haunting purpose with the composition aided by vocals from his homegirl Beayz

There's an eerie moment in this song where the message and music connect. Even if you're sweating in the club to this track, it's introspective themes still resonate.

"Demon" is available now on iTunes.

Chiefs will be performing at Mercat Basement, Melbourne for Grey Marle Music Vol. 1 Release Party on Saturday June 27th.
