Song Exploder is a podcast where musicians deconstruct their songs and tell the stories behind how they were made. In the past, it's explored tracks from U2 to Ben Gibbard and more. In the newest episode, musician, creator, and host Hrishikesh Hirway and Thundercat breakdown "Them Changes" from his latest mini-album, The Beyond / Where the Giants Roam (Brainfeeder).
Thundercat is the alter ego of bassist and singer-songwriter Stephen Bruner. He's played bass for both Suicidal Tendencies and Erykah Badu and went on to help shape Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp a Butterfly. In this episode, Thundercat breaks down the song "Them Changes," off his new mini-album. Thundercat co-produced the track with long-time collaborator Flying Lotus, with Kamasi Washington on saxophone. Buy "Them Changes" on iTunes.
