Pittsburgh Steelers Attempt an Ill-Fated Rabona Onside Kick, Lose In Miserable Fashion

For the Steelers today, the soccer-originated, pretzel-legged wonky kick proved to be an unmitigated failure.

There are very few people who can pull off a solid rabona in-game. Hell, it's even considered to be a no-no for soccer players, unless you're Dimitri Payet. But for an onside kick? Come on. It was executed once, beautifully by Rice University, but that's just about it. For the Steelers today, the soccer-originated, pretzel-legged wonky kick proved to be an unmitigated failure.

The score was 14-21, and an onside kick was a certainty for the Steelers, down with 48 seconds left. But Chris Boswell decided to get fancy with a fake and go the other way. It could have been amazing! But it absolutely wasn't. Instead, the field was smattered with near-visible question marks popping out of players' helmets, as Boswell kicked himself flat on the ground.
