Michigan Forces OT Against Indiana on Last-Second Touchdown, Wins in Double Overtime

Michigan and Indiana are battling into overtime after trading late touchdowns.

Indiana took a seven-point lead over Michigan with just under three minutes left in the game off a 24-yard Jordan Howard run, followed by a Jordan Howard two-point conversion. Michigan got the ball back on their own 34-yard line and marched down the field for a game-tying touchdown as time expired. The Fighting Harbaughs flipped the field pretty quickly, with a 16-yard pass to Jake Butt followed shortly thereafter by a huge 41-yard strike to Jehu Chesson.

That play to Chesson gave Michigan a first-and-goal from the Indiana two-yard line, and from there it looked like they were on easy street. But, oh man, did they make interesting! Three straight rushes for either a loss or no gain left Michigan with a fourth-and-goal from the five-yard line with six seconds left in the game. Jake Rudock hung in against the blitzing Indiana defense and found Chesson again—it was his fourth touchdown of the game—this time over the middle in the end zone for the game-tying score.

Both teams traded touchdowns in the first overtime and Michigan took the lead in double-OT with a touchdown on the first play to a wide open Amara Darboh. Michigan stopped Indiana on fourth-and-goal from the two-yard line to hang on for the win and avoid the dreaded third loss.
