Georgia State Coach Injured Celebrating Tournament Bid with His Son

Georgia State beat Georgia Southern in the Sun Belt conference tournament for an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, but head coach Ron Hunter was injured in the celebratory aftermath.

Georgia State is going dancing, but they may be doing it without their coach. Damn, what a fucking lede that was. Absolutely nailed it. Seriously, though, Georgia State's coach, Ron Hunter, was injured seconds after Georgia Southern's Eric Ferguson missed a last second three to win it.

Hunter was running onto the court celebrating the win when his son R.J. Hunter—who finished with nine points and five rebounds—leapt into his father's arms after the buzzer sounded and it looked like the coach collapsed. It was a pretty awesome moment, actually, until the injury. The elder Hunter was helped off the court to the sideline where he got himself checked out and it was later announced that he tore his achilles. Still, a torn achilles for a Tournament bid? You'd probably take that deal.
