Florida NFL Teams Announce OneOrlando Donation, No Mention of 'Gay' or 'LGBT'

"It's hard to find words to describe the emotions we all felt when news of this senseless tragedy broke," Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said.

All three of the Florida–based NFL teams—the Miami Dolphins, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Jacksonville Jaguars—have come together to donate $400,000 to OneOrlando Fund, according to Associated Press. The fund was set up by Orlando mayor Buddy Dyer to provide support for families of the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting, which took place on June 12th.

"It's hard to find words to describe the emotions we all felt when news of this senseless tragedy broke," Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said. "We are united with the NFL, the Jaguars and the Buccaneers in making this commitment to the OneOrlando Fund. We give our heartfelt condolences to those impacted by this horrific act and are hopeful that these donations help in their time of need."

The press release, sent out by the NFL, makes no mention of either the gay or LGBT communities, following with the trend noted by SB Nation's Outsports co-founder Cyd Zeigler that, "There has been no direct mention by the team of the target of the attack: the LGBT community."
