Clocking Life: Now Richie McCaw Is Hanging Out with Bill Murray

To paraphrase Murray's character from the cult flick 'Kingpin', Richie is on a gravy train with biscuit wheels.

First, the legendary former All Black skipper became the youngest person to ever receive the Order of New Zealand; New Zealand's highest domestic honour.

Yesterday, representing the All Blacks at the glitzy Lauerus Sports Awards in Berlin, the 35-year-old collected the accolade for Team of the Year, with world champion New Zealand rugby team beating out the likes of FC Barcelona and the Golden State Warriors.

But the best was perhaps yet to come. After the Lauerus ceremony, when McCaw, who retired late last year to become a helicopter pilot, got to meet awards host, and forever-king of irony, actor Bill Murray.

The moment was captured, and tweeted, by British politician—and eleven-time Paralympic champion—Tanni Grey-Thompson. Another former All Black captain, Sean 'Fitzy' Fitzpatrick, also got his mug in the shot.

Murray played a greens keeper in iconic golf film Caddyshack, and has a well-documented passion for Chicago sports teams—but VICE Sports AUNZ is unable to ascertain his knowledge of rugby.

Still, he's an ex-Ghostbuster and getting to meet him is the thing dreams are made of for those of us who are mere mortals.

Just another day for McCaw, huh.
