Josh Gordon Failed Another Drug Test for Weed

Josh Gordon failed another drug test.

Following a yearlong suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon applied for reinstatement this past February. According to Fox Sports, he then tested positive for marijuana in March. Gordon had been suspended twice before his yearlong ban: he earned two games in 2013 for using cough syrup with codeine in it, and then 10 games in 2014 for marijuana after "barely" failing another drug test in which one of the samples did not even rise above the proscribed limit. Here, again, the amount of marijuana detected in his sample was not enough to be an actual positive test, but the presence of a dilutive agent was also detected, making it automatically positive.

Due to a prior DUI, Gordon was suspended all of last year based on a positive test for alcohol. Gordon is in Stage III of the NFL's byzantine substance-abuse program and will be tested for alcohol for two years and is subjected to up to 10 drug tests per year.

Commissioner Roger Goodell could have ruled on Gordon's reinstatement before he tested positive, but he did not, and has not made a ruling yet. According to Mike Garafolo, however, the positive test does not necessarily mean he will miss another year. Goodell will obviously hold all of this against him in making his ruling, though.

Another failed test would be bad enough, but it's also come out that Gordon has been living with Johnny Manziel. And they're not just living together; they're living together in Los Angeles. On Sunset Boulevard. Ordinarily, NFL player living situations are not really anything to be talking about, but if there are any two guys looking to play in the NFL who shouldn't be living on the set of a Mötley Crüe video, it's these two.
